Ham Radio Equipment - Consignment Sales

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I send it back after I've received it?

A: The short answer is No. Unless the item you bought and received is in a damaged condition, or it is obviously not the item represented in the ad, or if the description does not match the actual item received, or if the equipment which was listed as functional in the ad proves not to be functional upon arrival, no requests for refunds will be honored. We must stress the importance of the buyer being aware of what the item is, and resolving all questions related to the item prior to placing the order to purchase the item. In other words, know what you are buying. Of course in certain circumstances, alternative arrangements may be agreed upon. Now, let me make a further clarification. The "rule" above is to protect sellers from frivolous purchases where someone buys something on a whim and then simply changes their mind and wants to send it back.

Since we're dealing with electronic equipment and most often used electronic equipment, such is vulnerable to the risks of shipping. In all cases where received equipment does not perform to the specs listed in the ad, we will work with both the buyer and the seller to resolve the situation to the satisfaction of both parties.

Q: I bought a radio from your site today. How long will it take to receive it?

A: That depends. As soon as I receive notice of the sale, I send an email message to the seller. Our seller clients are all individual ham operators. For the most part they are not businesses. Not everyone checks their email as often as I do, so it may be a couple of days before I hear back from the seller. If I have not heard from the seller in a timely manner, I will try to contact him or her by phone. In truth, for the most part, our sellers have been prompt to reply, and in sending the sold items to their buyers. Please be patient, a seller may be away on vacation and not reachable for a few days.

Q: I would like to know more information about one of the items on your site. Can I request it?

A: Absolutely! I will try to obtain that info for you. Again, please be patient. It may take a couple of days before I hear back from the seller.

Q: Is it possible for me to contact a seller directly?

A: Sorry, no. We must respect our sellers privacy. If you have bought something from a seller through us, and upon receiving that item, the seller has provided you with their contact info, then any contact is between you and that seller.

Q: Will you sell to an international buyer?

A: Almost without execption, we will not be able to do that. I say "almost" because if a particular seller is willing to do that, that will be between the seller and the buyer. If any sellers are willing to sell to international buyers, we will have that information posted on the seller's ad.

Q: How firm is the selling price? Can I make an offer of a lower price?

A: That is not a uncommon request, and it's not an unreasonable one. If your counter offer is fair, I'll be happy to pass it on to the seller. You never know. They might accept it. I will not pass on frivolous low ball offers, however.

Q: Where are these items kept? Do you have them?

A: In most cases, the sellers retain possession of their items.

Q: I am looking for <such and such>. Do you have any of those?

A: If you don't see it on our Web site, we do not have it. Remember this, just because we don't have it now does not mean we will not have it in the future. We hope that you will come back and visit our site often. We're always adding new things.

Q: Can I buy using "lay away"?

A: Yes. There are some conditions however. We can only put items on lay away which we are selling through our consignment service. All of those items are identified as being sold on behalf of individual sellers. There is a maximum time we will hold an item. That is, 60 days. If the final payment is not received by then, we will return your initial payment and remove the item from hold. During the time the item is held from you, it will still be displayed but we will note that it is being held pending a sale and even if someone offers the full price during that hold time, it will remain locked for you. If you wish to buy an item this way, please notify us of your intent ahead of time. Let us know which item or items you wish held, for how long and the amount you wish to pay initially. We can not hold items without an initial down payment. The amount of the down payment is not fixed but we prefer at least 25% of the selling price. Please follow our instructions on how to send a down payment and subsequent payments. As soon as the final payment is received, the item will be released to be shipped to you. Please note that if a buyer needs to make alternative arrangements with us for payment time length different from the stated 60 day limit, they should contact us and we will handle arrangements on a case by case basis.

Often buyers wanting to purchase on lay away make payments by personal check or money order. That is quite okay. We do deposit payments made by check and as soon as they have cleared through our bank (usually no more than three or four business days) the sale will be processed with the seller when the final payment check or money order has cleared the bank. This may add a few days to the process before the doll is shipped from the seller. We do appreciate patience on the part of buyers in this matter.

Q: I cannot find your email address listed on this Web site. How come? How can we contact you?

A: You absolutely can contact us through email. No, our email address is not published on this Web site. There are no email addresses displayed on this site. We have intentionally kept them off the site to protect against abuse by spammers. Anywhere you see a link on the site which says "Contact Us" or "Email Us" or something to that affect, that will allow you to send us a message by email.
