Bull Elk at First Light Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. This bull was master of a heard of about twenty or so consisting of mostly cows and a couple of young immature males. He had the challenge of keeping a raiding solitary bull from stealing away some of his females. As it turned out, the raider did manage to get away with three females from this herd. That's nature. That's the way a new herd is started. I love shooting photographs in the light of early morning. Adds a nice warm quality to the pictures.
