Selling items on consignment is not a new concept. Selling items on consignment on the Web is not new either. There are Web sites that specialize in consignment sales - this one for example. Consignment sales are also handled through such auction sites as eBay. There, businesses and individuals take your items on consignment to sell for you.

Much consignment sales business is handled through the traditional brick and mortar stores. The potential disadvantage of those is that you must take your products to those physical locations. There must be a consignment store location convenient to you in order to be of service to you. Also, unless that consignment store actively markets your products on the Internet where potential buyers from far and wide can see them, you are limited in your potential buyer base to those buyers who physically come to the store to buy.

We are trying something new and different here at Dooley's Treasure Chest. We already handle consignment sales for people wishing to sell collectibles such as dolls and figurines. We offer that service as well to artists who create custom jewelry. Now we want to expand our service to other product lines. We have not seen many other sites offering to sell clothing items on a consignment basis. We believe that there is a market for such a service. Most clothing items sold on line, other than through the new clothing retail outlets, are sold on the auction sites such as eBay. Those are good outlets but they are not for everyone. For one thing, you have to have a certain amount of on line auction sales knowledge to successfully sell on eBay. Not everyone wants to deal with the potential hassles. eBay has become so large that it is quickly becoming saturated with sales of specific items. When that happens, the prices obtainable are greatly reduced. Basically, there is too much competition.

If you are a collector of vintage clothing items, or have inherited or simply have a built up collection of such items and you do not wish to hand them over to a brick and mortar consignment store, or if you don't have such a store in your area, why not consider giving our service a try?

If you are simply wishing to get rid of yesterday's men's and women's suits, coats, jackets, dresses, kids clothes (which they have outgrown?) or whatever, let us list them for you. Prom dresses, wedding dresses, costumes, whatever. Yes, even lingerie if it is in good condition and clean. We would accept new undergarments and swimwear, but not preowned. If there is a category we have not listed here, ask us.

The only real requirement on your part, other than being able to represent what you create through photos and good descriptions, including size information, is the ability to deliver or ship your items to buyers. We have buyers from all over the country.

We will list new or preowned clothing items. Naturally, we would expect that items listed be in good condition and truly sellable. Some items are best donated rather than trying to sell them. Damaged or excessively worn items, or those which are so far out of date style wise as to be unwanted by anyone, are not worth listing. It is also expected that items listed are cleaned and fresh. You can list to sell your clothing items individually or in lots.

We can not accept items for listing which can not be expected to realize at least $25.00 (USD) each for the selling price (separate from shipping). You may add such items into a lot, however. Again, assuming that the lot is sold unbroken and the total selling price for the lot is $25.00 (USD) or more.

At this time, we can not accept items for consignment sale from outside of the U. S. Neither can we accept orders for those items from outside of the U. S. We may be able to modify that restriction in the future.

Remember, there is no charge to you for listing your creations here. You pay us a commission only on items sold through the Web site. We do not charge a commission on the shipping fees charged to your buyers. That all goes straight to you for shipping purposes.
