We don't know the brand as no paperwork or tags exist. Neither
does the original box or packing. Very possibly a Dee And
Cee (Canada) which was bought by Mattel in the 1960s.
This doll looks like bride dolls from that maker, though with
no identifiable marks, it can't not be assured. As that company
licensed to various other manufacturers, it's possible this
one is from one of those.
She is a walker - cryer though the sound no longer works.
Moving her legs in a walking motion causes her head to move
from side to side.
For the last 30 years, she has been stored in a protective
bag. She is about 26 inches tall. Body is hard plastic and
head is a soft, vinyl like material. She has movable neck,
legs, and arms, though her elbows, knees, ankles and wrists
are fixed. Her sleeping eyes work. Her hair is rooted. Her
dress is a "satin" like material with lace trim
and a lace outer skirt that matches her veil. The dress is
fastened at the back with snap eyelets. The lower photos on
the left more accurately show her coloring including her hair.
She has a flower attached to her left wrist. Her dress color
is perhaps called "egeshell." It's not pure white
and appears to be the original color, not due to age or staining.
She was not equipped with earrings. Smoke free environment.
This bride doll was received new in 1958. She was not played
with, but was displayed and enjoyed as a collectible rather
than a toy. As a result, the doll has been kept in very good
condition. She is not in mint condition, nor in perfect condition.
Her face and facial features have no defects.
Defects: There is a tiny stain spot on the rear of
her dress near the hem. It might be cleanable. a couple of
very small stain marks on the hem edge of her veil. There
is one small tear in her veil, towards the rear. It's narrow
and about one inch long. Hard to detect. We have not attempted
to do so. There is a very small dark stain mark on one of
the finger nails on her right hand. That too may be removable.
The material in her stockings and undies has "loosened"
over the years as seen in the photo below. There are no holes
or tears, however. Her shoes show a little scuffing. That
too may be cleanable. Due to long term storage, there is some
wrinkling of her clothing. The dress, and other garment pieces
show signs of normal wear consistent with the age.
